However, I made them too small! She’s taller than I am and I didn’t take this into account. So, a few months later, I made a replacement pair.

I felt bad that it had taken me so long to rectify my error, so I decided to… make poor Lyra wait even longer while I knitted her a white mage hooded cowl, as well.

All that’s left for me to do now is mail these off to her, and she’ll finally be able to dress like the white mage she plays. It was fun to make some non-hat, non-plushie video game things!

I’ve been trying to relax by learning about Tunisian crochet. I’m making a bunch of squares showcasing the different stitches, and I’m planning to knit them together to make a blanket for my couch. I’d love to order the interchangeable crochet hook kit from Denise Interchangeable Needles but I can’t really spend superfluous money right now. Oh well, maybe my parents will get it for me as a birthday present eventually? 🙂

I haven’t forgotten my commission work. On Monday I finished up all the knitting for the Prince of All Cosmos plushie I’ve been working on for two weeks. All he needs now is a face! I need to get to the craft store and buy myself some felt so I can ship this guy out. He’s a whopping 22 inches tall, from the top of his antenna to the bottom of his feet.

]]> Marathon over! https://www.mercurialknits.com/2011/04/marathon-over/ Tue, 12 Apr 2011 12:15:29 +0000 http://www.mercurialknits.com/?p=263 Thank you to everyone who came to watch Speed Demos Archive‘s Japan Relief Done Quick and raised money for Doctors Without Borders! At the end of the marathon, we raised $22,718.92! That’s certainly a lot of money to help all those in Japan needing medical help after the horrible earthquakes and tsunami. We couldn’t have done it without all of you.

Even metroids like raising money for charity! (And draining life energy.)

My plushies seemed to be a hit, and I couldn’t be more pleased. It makes me feel wonderful to give my time as well as my money to a great cause. The final two plushies I made were a Metroid (see above; Ravelry page here) and a surprise, last-minute Ocarina of Time (Ravelry page here).

Note: does not make sounds like a real ocarina. ;)

I’m on a bit of a roll today, finishing two plushies and already considering a third… I should probably get some rest instead, though.
